Eleanor Nellie Souray (1886 - 1931), Lady Torrington. A popular stage actress and Gaiety girl, she was a number of performers who married into the peerage during the Edwardian era, meeting George Master Byng, 9th Viscount Torrington at the races in Ostend. The couples marriage soon soured and they divorced. After running a stud farm and then opening the Vortex club in Soho, Nellie was in serious debt and killed herself by leaving a gas ring on in her flat in December 1931. Date: 1910
