Aerial photograph showing the breaching of the Eder Dam by the dambusters raid in May 1943 causing serious flooding through the Ruhr Valley. Picture shows the village of Affoldern, two and a half miles downstream from the Eder Dam completely surrounded by flood water. The power station was destroyed and electricity pylon isolated amidst the floods. Date: 1943
