One of the new 2000 b.h.p. Class 40 diesel-electric locomotives built by The English Electric Company Ltd. in conjunction with the Vulcan Foundry Ltd. put into service in the Eastern Region of British Railways. All of the axles ran on Timken tapered-roller bearings. Date: 1959
