The Battle of Vuelta de Obligado 1845
The battle of Vuelta de Obligado on 20th November 1845, was a collaborative attack by the French and British to defy the Argentine Confederations decision to block the unregulated sailing and trading of foreign ships in Argentinian waters, due to the French and British ships avoidance of paying custom taxes at Buenos Aires. Several ships and two steamers sail towards the Argentinian chain blockade, as soldiers on both sides fight on the shore where the Argentine camp is based. This resulted in a Anglo-French victory, but alienated previously anti-Confederation countries like Brazil and Chile, and had little economic success as it was still impossible to sail up river to trade.
