13th / 18th Hussars Memorial, la Breche d Hermanville
The Regiment was equipped with Flail tanks which acted as giant carpet sweepers, having at the front huge rotating steel chains as brushes. They landed on D-Day in support of the East Yorks with the task of clearing the beaches of mines. Because the Regiments tanks were shared between various infantry units there are a number of Memorials around Normandy. Date: 2009
