A central figure in the newspaper world: Mr. Roy Thomson(1894-1976), at the time of the Thomson-Kings-Odiham affair. Mr Thomson came to prominence with the announcement on 25th January 1961 that Thomson Newspapers and Odihams Press were to merge. Thomson was later to become 1st Baron Thomson of Fleet in the 1964 New Years Honours. Drawn from life by Stephen Ward at a sitting specially granted to the Illustrated London News. Stephen Ward would later become notorious by his involvement in the Profumo Affair. Date: 1961
