An architects model of the accepted design for the Palace of the Soviets by Boris Iofan, surmounted by a colossal Lenin in chromium steel. The building was designed for the site of the demolished Cathedral of Christ the Saviour in Moscow; construction started in 1937 but was interrupted by the Second World War and never resumed.
