Mutsuhito (1852 - 1912), also known as Meiji, Emperor of Japan, in the uniform of Commander-in-Chief of the Japanese Army and seated upon a charger which stands over Manchuria, Mongolia and Formosa (the latter gained by the Japanese after the war of 1895). Illustration published shortly before the outbreak of the Russo-Japanese War. Date: 1904
