Meiji Shrine - Meiji Jingu - Shibuya Tokyo

Meiji Shrine (Meiji Jingu), located in Shibuya, Tokyo - a Shinto shrine dedicated to the deified spirits of Emperor Meiji and his wife, Empress Shoken. Sadly, the gentleman pictured in the inset portrait has defied our best attempts at translation. We can however confirm it was NOT the Emperor at this time or his Prime Minister! Published at the time of the dedication of the Shrine in 1920 (confirmed by the commemorative stamp on reverse of card). Date: 1920
