The Lord Mayors Show during the First World War

The Lord Mayors Show during World War I showing captured German guns, an aeroplane of the RFC, and contingents representing Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and the West Indies. Other prominent features were recruiting bands and, following the Lord Mayor and his escort of City of London Yeomanry, a Recruiting Column of considerable strength. Before the arrival of the Procession, recruiting meetings were held at various points of the route, and it was arranged that recruits should fall in behind the Guards detachment. Date: 1915
