Lord Horatio Herbert Kitchener (1850-1916), appointed Secretary of State for War at the beginning of the First World War. He was responsible for a large recruitment campaign, with his image appearing on posters. He died when the warship he was travelling on was sunk by a German mine. Date: circa 1914-1916
