Photographic portrait of George Herbert, 5th Earl of Carnarvon (1866-1923), c.1922. Lord Carnarvon was the wealthy, English amateur egyptologist who financed Howard Carters excavations in the Valley of the Kings in 1922-3. He was one of the first people to enter Tutankhamens tomb. Pictured in The Tatler shortly before the tombs historic opening and Carnarvons subsequent death that year. Date: 1923
