Converted from a former police station and opened in 1879, Shooters Hill fire station remained at this site (Old Police Station, Well Hall Road) until 1912 when the new Shooters Hill fire station, built by the LCC, was opened. This fire station (D44) was one of the boundary stations of the LCC, its station ground bordering on the Kent Fire Brigade area
