Leicesters Roman forum reconstructed
Reconstruction drawing by Alan Sorrell of the city of Leicesters Roman forum in Roman times. The Roman remains excavated by Kathleen Kenyon in 1936, beside the Roman-era Jewry Wall in Leicester, were initially thought to be a Roman forum, with the Jewry Wall part of a basilica. However, later excavations showed that the site was probably a bath complex and the Jewry Wall part of that. The Illustrated London News in 1937 shows the restoration as the forum and basilica.
