Lady Margaret Sackville
Lady Margaret Sackville (1881 - 1963), poet and childrens writer. She was the daughter of the 7th Earl de la Warr. During the First World War Sackville joined the anti-war Union of Democratic Control and published a collection of poems, The Pageant of War (1916), which denounced women who condoned war as betrayers of their sons. She had a close, sometime romantic, relationship with Labour leader Ramsay Macdonald which survived his denouncement of the landed aristocracy. Date: 1918
