King George V - The Insignia of the Realm - Kings Champion
King George V (1865-1936) - The Knight of Great Britain and the Emperor of India (represented by a rising sun behind an Indian Mosque). The Insignia of the Realm, also featuring the National Emblems of England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. The Office of Kings Champion is represented by a Mounted Knight. His function (now discontinued) was to ride into Westminster Hall during the banquet following the Coronation, and by the mouth of a Herald, to challenge any person present who denied the Kings right to be regarded as the Monarch of the Realm.
