Ironing room for patients bedding in the laundry at the Joyce Green Smallpox Hospital at Long Reach near Dartford. Large rotary irons are used to press sheets. The hospital, which was operated by the Metropolitan Asylums Board, open in 1903, replacing three hospital ships moored nearby on the Thames. Date: circa 1910
