Joseph Rodgers, (b. 1830 in Malta - ?), seaman of the Royal Charter, a ship which sank off the coast of Anglesey on 26th October 1859 in terrible storms. Hundreds perished, but Rodgers swam ashore with a rope to which the ships hawser (a thick cable) was attached and thus managed to save some lives. Date: 1859
