John Lauder, son of Harry, leading practice charge, WW1
John Lauder, only son of the music hall entertainer and comedian Harry Lauder, pictured as a lieutenant in the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders (Territorials) leading a practice charge at Bedford. His father was an indefatigable recruiter and fundraiser during the First World War. Cambridge-educated John was killed on 28 December 1916. Date: 1915
