Jimmy the Bulldog at the Royal Society
Jimmy, a Bulldog owned by Dr A.D.Waller, takes part in an experiment at the Royal Society, Burlington House, London. With one fore-leg and one hind-leg in separate pots of salt solution connected to Einthovens string galvanometer, his heart-beat is recorded on a lime-lit sheet, a thread vibrating with each heart-beat. Several ladies in the audience also took part in the experiment, dipping their hands into the saline solution pots, and their hearts were found to be steadier than Jimmy s. Date: May 1909
