Japanese advance on Hankow
Japanese troops land following a crossing of the River Yangtze during their advance on the city of Hankow (Hankou) in 1938. With the fall of Nanking, Hankow became the military and political capital of China. Japanese forces began their campaign to reach and take the city in June 1938, and by the end of October it was in Japanese hands. Date: 1938
