Israel - Ramla - Tower of the 40 martyrs
The Tower of Ramla, Israel. Also known as the White Tower, this interesting survival was built in the 13th century. It served as the minaret of the White Mosque (al-Masjid al-Abyad) erected by Caliph Suleiman in the 8th century. The Tower also has the title - The Tower of forty Martyrs, named in memory of forty companions of the Prophet Muhammad. Date: circa 1910s
