India - Deolali - British Garrison

British Garrison at Deolali, in Nashik District in the state of Maharashtra, India - British soldiers and Officers outside the Billiard Room. The name of the town is the source of the British slang noun " doolally tap", loosely meaning " camp fever", referring to the apparent madness of men waiting for ships back to Britain. By the 1940s this had been shortened to " doolally". Date: circa 1910s
