WW1 - German soldiers pose on a battle-scarred French street Featured 16 Apr 2020 Print

WW1 - German soldiers pose on a battle-scarred French street

A fascinaing WW1-era postcard showing a large group of German soldiers posed in the setting of a battle-scarred street scene in France (note the sign Restaurant Jeanne D'Arc - number 19). Whether they are captured prisoners of war or relaxing behind the lines (in occupied territory) is not known. Many of the soldiers have fully shaven or very close-cropped haircuts. Date: circa 1915
