Passive Resistance - comic postcard by Lance Thackeray Featured December Print

Passive Resistance - comic postcard by Lance Thackeray

Passive Resistance - comic postcard by Lance Thackeray showing a Policeman not having a lot of success in leading away a troublesome hound, much to the amusement of a street urchin and possible owner of the aforementioned pooch. A possible link to the passive resistance being undertaken against the authorities by similarly unwavering (and unmoving) Suffragettes in the struggle for Women's Suffrage - their valiant struggle depicted/satirised here in less than flattering comparison. Date: circa 1906

Following this event (pictured) The Treaty of Portsmouth that ended the war granted Japan the lease of the South Manchuria Railway branch (from Changchun to Lushun) of the China Far East Railway.
