The Channel Islands - St Peters pont - St Peters Port from Harbour. Part of Box 234 Boswell Collection - The Channel Islands Saint Peter Port is the capital of Guernsey as well as the main port. The population in 2001 was 16, 488. In Guern?ais and in French, historically the official language of Guernsey, the name of the town and its surrounding parish is St Pierre Port. The 'port' distinguishes this parish from Saint Pierre Du Bois. Date: circa 1900

Part of Box 234 Boswell Collection - The Channel Islands Les Pierres de Lecq (J貲iais: Les Pi貲es d頌驠or the Paternosters are a group of uninhabitable rocks or a reef in the Bailiwick of Jersey between Jersey and Sark, 6 km north of Gr趥 de Lecq in Saint Mary, and 22.4 km west of the Cotentin Peninsula in Normandy. Date: circa 1900

Animals at a French Zoo - Persian deer

Animals at a French Zoo - Persian deer - deer gazing out through bars. Part of Box 209 Boswell collection - Old and New French Zoo. Slide 15. Persian fallow deer are physically larger than fallow deer and are nearly extinct today. They were formerly found from Mesopotamia and Egypt to the Cyrenaica and Cyprus. Their preferred habitat is open woodland. Since 1996 they have been gradually and successfully reintroduced from a breeding centre in the Carmel, into the wild in northern Israel, and more than 650 of them now live in the Galilee, Mount Carmel areas and the Brook of Sorek. Date: circa 1900
