East Africa - Old Fort

East Africa - Old Fort - Soldiers Guarding Ramparts. Part of Box 249 Boswell Collection - East Coast of Africa. Inhambane is one of the oldest settlements on Mozambique's eastern coast. Dhows traded here as early as the 11th century. Muslim and Persian traders were the first outsiders to arrive to the area by sea and traded pearls and ambergris, and they also traded at Chibuene in the south Date: circa 1900

Tour of the Colonies - St James' Street

Tour of the Colonies - St James' Street - Street with horses, carriages, bunting etc. Part of Box 246 Boswell collection - Tour of the Colonies. St James's Street is the principal street in the district of St James's, central London, England. It runs from Piccadilly downhill to St James's Palace and Pall Mall. The main gatehouse of the palace is at the southern end of the road, and in the 17th century Clarendon House faced down the street across Piccadilly on the site of most of Albemarle Street. Date: circa 1900

Tour of the Colonies - Blackfriars - Queen Victoria

Tour of the Colonies - Blackfriars - Queen Victoria - Statue of Queen under decorated arch with crown on top. Part of Box 246 Boswell collection - Tour of the Colonies. Blackfriars Bridge is a road and foot traffic bridge over the River Thames in London, between Waterloo Bridge and Blackfriars Railway Bridge, carrying the A201 road. The north end is near the Inns of Court and Temple Church, along with Blackfriars station. The south end is near the Tate Modern art gallery and the Oxo Tower. Date: circa 1900
