UVF - Ulster Volunteer Force Poster

Notice posted by the Ulster Volunteer Force intending to quell speculation that its founding was a direct violent challenge to those of differing views within Ulster, instead stressing that its formation was solely to put pressure on the Government and its policies. The Ulster Volunteers were a unionist militia founded in 1912 to block Home Rule for Ireland. In 1913 they were organised into the Ulster Volunteer Force, with many of its members enlisting with the 36th (Ulster) Division at the outbreak of World War I.

Russian Patriotic Propaganda Poster - Red Army Day

"The glory of these days will never fall silent."
A quote from the march of the Amur Far East partisans of the Russian Civil war era. This song was popular throughout the USSR and sung in school classrooms. A general propaganda poster, likely to have been produced to advertise the annual Red Army Day ('Defender of the Fatherland Day ') celebrated on February 23rd each year.

Anti-German cartoon, on the road to Paris, WW1

An anti-German cartoon by a French satirical cartoonist, showing an ugly German soldier who has fallen off his bicycle by a milestone on a country road 40 kilometres from Paris. A French cockerel looks at him disdainfully. The caption reads: For strategic reasons, triumphal entry into Paris postponed. Date: 1914
