Alfred William Moritz Meyer-Waldeck

Alfred William Moritz Meyer-Waldeck (1864-1928) - a German naval officer, Vice Admiral and Governor of the 'leased territory' of Jiaozhou in Shantung province of China (Kiaochow) between 1911 and 1914. In 1898 the area was transferred to Germany on a 99-year lease, and became known as the Kiautschou Bay concession. The village of Qingdao became the German colony of Tsingtau, and the area became a focus for German commercial development in China, while for the Imperial German Navy it was the naval base for their Far East Squadron. Albanian King Zog I

The Albanian King Zog I (1895-1961) - previously Ahmed Zog - initially Prime Minister from 1923 to 1924, then President from January 1925 until 1928 (as depicted here) and on September 1st, 1928 he proclaimed himself king. In 1939 he fled abroad from the Italian occupying forces. In 1946 he was formally dethroned. According to the Guinness Book of Records, he holds the record for the most cigarettes smoked in a day (225!!!). Date: circa 1925

A Freighter of the Great Lakes - Fort William, Ontario, Canada. Lake freighters, or Lakers, are bulk carrier vessels that ply the Great Lakes. This Laker if the J P Morgan Jr. which transported steel. J P Morgan Jr. was named after John Pierpont "Jack" Morgan, Jr. (1867-1943) - an American banker and philanthropist who resembled his father in his dislike for publicity and continued his father's philanthropic policy. Date: circa 1910s
