Attack on Otto von Bismarck

Otto von Bismarck, Prime Minister of Prussia from 18621890 is almost assassinated by Ferdinand Cohen-Blind, a democrat who hoped to prevent a war among the German states. Bismarck was shot at five times at close range but survived; Cohen-Blind committed suicide while in custody. Date: 8th May 1866

Samuel Orton

Samuel Orton, a native Londoner, was charged with forging two Letters of Attorney, under the name of Captain Bishop, in order to obtain 1000 from the Bank of England. He was the clerk of the Court of Requests in the Borough of Southwark, and is shown committing forgery at his desk. He was executed on the 14th of January, 1767 Date: 18th Century
