Chelsea vs West Bromwich Albion 1905

A montage of photographs showing action from the fixture between Chelsea and West Bromwich Albion, in the Second Division of the Football League, played at Chelsea's home ground, Stamford Bridge. The match was won 1-0 by Chelsea. This was Chelsea's first season in the Football League, the club having only been founded in March 1905. Wedding of Margaret Whigham and Charles Sweeny

The society wedding of the year in 1933; that of society beauty and media darling, Miss Margaret Whigham, later Duchess of Argyll, to Mr Charles Sweeny, Oxford University golfer at Brompton Oratory in February 1933. The bride's dress with exquisite pearl star embroidery was designed by Norman Hartnell and its fifty foot train stopped the traffic in Knightsbridge where thousands of people turned out to catch a glimpse of the wedding. 60, 000 trousseau for Princess Marie Bonaparte Featured 3 Mar 2011 Print

60, 000 trousseau for Princess Marie Bonaparte

A page from the Illustrated London News with photographs of the huge number of exquisite gowns on display at the gallery of Monsieur Drecolle, all forming part of a 60, 000 trousseau for Princess Marie Bonaparte on her marriage to Prince George of Greece in 1907. Prince Marie Bonaparte was an author, psychoanalyst and disciple of Sigmund Freud. Obsessed with her inability to find sexual fulfillment, her wealth did much to popularise the field of psycho analysis. Obviously, clothes were no substitute for a fulfilling sex life though! Date: 1907
