Ice Palace - Montreal, Canada
The Ice Palace erected in the Dominion Square, Montreal, Canada during the Winter Festival of 1885. This extraordinary structure was built out of sixteen thousand blocks of ice three feet four inches square and fifteen inches thick. At each end stood towers thirty-eight feet high, and at the sides pairs of round towers extended up to a height of forty four feet. The main tower at the centre of the palace reached to a height of one hundred feet! A.C. Hutchinson designed the Winter Festivals Ice Palaces between 1883-89
