The photograph on the left shows the semi-final of the 400 metres hurdling. Second from left competitor, Larsson of Sweden (no.128) is about to draw ahead and take the victory. The righthand photograph is of the final of the same event. Cochran, no. 339 in one of the central lanes took gold, and set up a new Olympic record of 51.1 seconds. Date: 1948
