Grenadier Guards in London 1914
The 2nd Battalion Grenadier Guards march through London in their campaign kit. They are headed by Major Edward Henry Trotter (1872-1916), who had lost an arm during the Second Boer War. By the end of August 1914 Trotter had been placed in command of the 18th Battalion, The Kings (Liverpool Regiment). He lost his lfe on the front line in July 1916, during German bombardment at the Somme.
