The Government House at Perth, capital of Western Australia, pictured shortly after its completion. The building was designed by Lieutenant-Colonel Henderson of the Royal Engineers, and constructed for the most part by convict labour. The occasion illustrated here is the presentation of her Majesty Queen Victorias commission to the officers of the West Australian Volunteers. Date: 11 December 1863
