Photograph: Gift from our Indian Empire. Calcutta ambulance cars. From an album of 76 official photographs, 1916-1917. Associated with World War One, Western Front (1914-1918). Ambulances were donated to the war effort from across the British Empire. Wealthy individuals, businesses, trade unions, charities, hunts, worshipful companies, churches and many others paid for ambulances. Manufacturers of ambulances included Rolls-Royce, Daimler, Albion, Morris, Vulcan, Austin, Sunbeam-Rover, Wolseley, Siddeley-Deasy, Renault, Buick, Crossley, Vauxhall, Argyll, Sunbeam, Lanchester, Ford Model T, Fiat and Star. Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 archival quality photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (38x32cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees!
