The Gardens, Boston
Boston Public gardens were established in 1837 after philanthropist Horice Gray petitioned for the use of the land as a public botanical garden. Located at the Arlington st gate is the equestrian statue of George Washington by Thomas Ball 1869. The Ether monument known as The good samaritan by the sulptor John Quincy Adam Ward dates from 1867 and can be located in the north west corner of the gardens. Date: 1902
