The Woman with the Way with Her. Gladys Callow, Fellow of the Zoological Society of London is at home with all sorts of animals at the zoo. The photos show some of the wonderful feats which she performed for the official Zoo films. She is on friendly terms with the hipppos, the leopards, and the golden eagles and vultures, and allows Winnie, the bear, to take figs from her mouth. Date: 1923

View of the entrance to the zoological gardans 1840. London Zoo is the worlds oldest scientific zoo. It was opened in London on 27 April 1828, and was originally intended to be used as a collection for scientific study. In 1831 or 1832, the animals of the Tower of London menagerie were transferred to the zoos collection. It was opened to the public in 1847. Date: 1875
