Battling Bonzo wins in the first round by George Studdy

Battling Bonzo wins in the first round. He tackles a black dog bigger than himself, and takes the credit when the enemy accidentally falls down a manhole. George Ernest Studdy (1878-1948), was the creator of 'Bonzo', a small dog with saucer-like eyes and indiscriminate breeding who first appeared in the Sketch in 1922. The 'Bonzo' craze swept the world resulting in postcards, annuals, toys and other merchandise. Credit should read: Estate of George Studdy/Gresham Marketing Ltd./ILN/Mary Evans Date: 18 April 1923

If Germany Wins -- the Kaiser's sons, WW1

A rather sickening and defeatist (or perhaps tongue-in-cheek) item, suggesting what might happen if Germany wins the First World War. Just as Napoleon placed his family members on various European thrones, so Wilhelm II might appoint his sons to different countries. Date: 1914
