Beautiful gowns for the spring season 1913

Three women models wearing pretty fashionable frocks for evening and afternoon wear 1913, almond green charmeuse forms the skirt of model on the left, which is cut with a train, diagonally-draped tunic is of tulle, which is enriched by a broad band of embroidery in silver beads. Centre model wearing an afternoon frock in blue taffetas, skirt has three deep folds above the knee which are decorated with cabochons and string and beads the same on the bodice, wide belt is of pink taffetas. Model on the rights dress is simple and graceful and very effective in the rich shade of peacock blue, the Magyar bodice is formed of pearl-embroidered lace and a small cluster of roses make a prety finish to the waist at the back. Date: 1913

Costume of Madame de Chateau-Regnault, merveilleuse. . Costume of Madame de Chateau-Regnault, merveilleuse in Revolutionary fashion. She wears Jacobin colours and royalist symbols, a low-cut silk bodice (corselet), and a linen dress with gold stars. Her hairstyle is a la Doisy, a chignon in a tulle helmet with blue and red feathers. Handcolored etching by Auguste Etienne Guillaumot Jr. from Costumes of the Directory, Rouquette, Paris, 1875. The etchings were made from designs by Eugene Lacoste and Draner after prints of the era 1795-99.

Fashions for April, 1872

A selection of ladies fashions from the Paris designers, April 1872. From left to right: 'Toilette de Diner', trimmed with a deep flounce and covered with a white lace tunic; the dress decorated with lace trim and blue velvet bows. 'Toilette de Visite', a pearl grey dress with a darker cashmere tunic trimmed with embroidered designs. A long fringe combining both shades of grey forms a train at the back. 'Toilette de Promenade Pompadour', the under skirt is made from sky blue taffeta, covered by a white tunic spotted with bouquets of flowers. The front is fastened with blue velvet bows and falls each side at points which are trimmed with blue taffeta. 'Toilette de visitee' a demi-traine, the under skirt mignonette green trimmed with three ruches of a darker shade. The upper skirt forms a tablier at the front, falls in rounded points at each side. The head dress made of rice straw is encirculed with a garland of white periwinkle. A large veil of embroidered white tulle covers all of the hat and is fastened under the chin.
