A Nation in Arms Featured Print

A Nation in Arms

Promotional postcard for A Nation in Arms. The scroll under Britannia and her trumpet reads, Defence Not Defiance. This is a propaganda play in favour of more territorial soldiers, and better and longer training. Because of deficiencies in these areas, patriotism, courage and intelligence cannot prevent defeat. No author given with the Lord Chamberlains copy. Copyright performance, Royal Court Theatre, Warrington, 20th September 1909. Date: circa 1909
