Camels leaving Cairo for the Front, WW1
A trainload of camels in Egypt belonging to the Imperial Camel Corps leaving Cairo for the Front. The picture was taken at a railway siding in Cairo, just as the train was about to depart for the Front. In the first truck of the train were a number of Australian soldiers, members of the Imperial Camel Corps and in charge of the camels. The headstall rope of each animal is attached to a line which runs the length of the truck. Date: 1916
