Mrs Joseph Kennedy, wife of H.E. the United States Ambassador, in a photograph to mark the presentation of two of her daughters at the first court at Buckingham Palace in May 1938. On the left is Rosemary Kennedy (1918 - 2005), in the middle Rose Kennedy and on the right, Kathleen Kick Kennedy. Kathleen met Billy Cavendish, heir to the Devonshire dukedom during the Season and married him becoming Marchioness of Hartington. He was killed during World War II and Kathleen herself was killed in a plane crash in 1948. Rosemary, or Rosie, was deemed mentally retarded and was subjected to a frontal lobotomy at the age of 23. She spent much of her life in and out of asylums. Date: 1938

Jose Collins (23 May 1887 6 December 1958) was an English actress and singer. Her most famous role was the lead in the musical the Maid of the Mountains in which she played the title role of Teresa, the gypsy bandit maid. Here it is her appearance as a solo artist at The Olympia in Liverpool (on 29th September 1917 or 1918) which is being advertised. The artist is AINX, drawn from a photo by Foulsham and Banfield, Ltd. Date: 1917 or 1918

The Marchioness of Headfort, formerly known to playgoers as Miss Rose (Rosie) Boote of the Gaiety Theatre, London. She married the Marquess in April 1901, and her son became the Earl of Bective. One of a number of stage actresses during the Edwardian era who married into the peerage. Date: 1958
