The Capitoline Wolf (Lupa Capitolina) suckling Romulus and R
The Capitoline Wolf (Lupa Capitolina). Bronze sculpture of a she-wolf showing Romulus and Remus as suckling infants. Inspired by the legend of the founding of Rome. Although always has been dated as an Etruscan sculpture, 5th century B.C., recent studies shows the she-wolf may be sculpted in the Middle Ages. The twins sculptures are dated in the Renaissance. The Brenner Pass - Italy (1/3)
The Brenner Pass (Brennerpass, Passo del Brennero) - a mountain pass through the Alps along the border between Italy and Austria - one of the principal passes of the Alps. Since the end of World War I in 1918, control of the pass has been shared between Italy and Austria. These two postcards may show the change-over in the border control forces, but this is solely conjecture. Date: circa 1930s
