The Second Lieutenant who took the COs Savoury
Humorous illustration by H. M. Bateman, part of his acclaimed, 'The Man Who...' series in The Tatler showing Bateman's archetypal blustering colonel about to quite literally blow his top at a regimental officers' dinner, on discovering that a lowly second lieutenant has mistakenly taken his savoury starter. The Second Lieutenant, in true Bateman tradition is reduced to a shaking, google-eyed, green-hued terrified wreck on realising his faux-pas.
