Metropolitan Music Hall, Edgware Road Featured Print

Metropolitan Music Hall, Edgware Road

The Metropolitan Music Hall, 207 Edgware Road London - a very fine Music Hall which was sadly demolished in 1963 to allow the building of a flyover for the A40. Formerly an inn called the White Lion public house, the theatre was re-built in 1862 and opened under the new name of the Metropolitan Music Hall two years later. Re-built again in 1897 by Frank Matcham. Photograph by Heinz Zinram

A group of policemen pose for their photograph outside Hammersmith Police Station, west London, to commemorate the Coronation of King George V. Many flags decorate the building, and a sign over the main doorway reads God Save Our King & Queen. Most of the men are wearing war medals over their left pocket

Inoculation by H M Bateman Featured Print

Inoculation by H M Bateman

Inoculation by H M Bateman. This illustration shows a man smuggly and confidently going through a series of injections by different doctors, on different parts of his body. He is so proud of his trials that he does not see the traffic when crossing the road. A lorry almost runs him down, making him a nervous wreck and putting him back infront of the doctors with their syringes. Date: 1924
