Officially called the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela (Spanish: Rep�a Bolivariana de Venezuela), is a country on the northern coast of South America. Venezuela's territory covers around 916, 445 km2 (353, 841 sq mi) with an estimated population around 33, 221, 865. Venezuela is considered a state with extremely high biodiversity, with habitats ranging from the Andes Mountains in the west to the Amazon Basin rainforest in the south, via extensive llanos plains and Caribbean coast in the center and the Orinoco River Delta in the east. Founded in 1518, it was the centre of shipping commerce in the Caribbean Sea during the latter half of the 17th century. It was destroyed by an earthquake in 1692 and subsequent fires, hurricanes, flooding, and another earthquake in 1907.. Part of Box 108. Boswell Collection. Slide number 50. Jamaica, officially the Commonwealth of Jamaica, is an island nation of the Greater Antilles, situated in the Caribbean Sea.
