Illustration shows their Majesties crowned and carrying sceptres, seated in the magnificent golden State coach and accompanied by Yeoman of the Guard and other attendants in livery of red and gold. Royal group at Rosenau Castle in Coburg gathered to celebrate the engagement of the Czarevitch Nicholas (later Czar Nicholas II) to Princess Alix of Hesse. The engagement took place at the wedding of Princess Victoria Melita of Edinburgh to Grand Duke Ernst Ludwig of Hesse. Each member of the family is annotated, and includes Prince Alfred of Edinburgh, Prince and Princess Louis of Battenberg (the latter formerly Princess Victoria of Hesse), Grand Duke & Duchess Serge of Russia (the latter formerly Princess Elizabeth of Hesse), Princess Marie of Edinburgh (Crown Princess of Romania), Princess Beatrice of Edinburgh and Prince and Princess Henry of Prussia (the latter formerly Princess Irene of Hesse). Rosenau was the birthplace of Albert, the Prince Consort

Royal Wedding cake made by Huntley & Palmers (of Reading, Berkshire) for Princess Elizabeth (later Queen Elizabeth II) on the occasion of her marriage to Phillip Mountbatten, Duke of Edinburgh in 1947. The icing department worked continuously for three weeks on the cake which was originally designed to weigh 400lb! In the end Buckingham Palace requested a reduced austerity cake of only 195lb... The cake was created/decorated by Jack Bryant (Head confectioner) with the help of his father William Bryant. Date: 1947
