Cartoon, Monsieur Jacobi, theatre director (in the background) -- I had engaged to give those people a taste of The Beggar Student, and now there is Alexander Henderson on the same job! A comment on a production of Der Bettelstudent, a three-act German operetta which premiered in Vienna in 1882. The production at the Alhambra Theatre, London, in 1884, included a grand military ballet by Jacobi. Henderson, theatre owner and director, stands in costume in the foreground, playing a mandolin.
