Wedding of Oswald Mosley and Cynthia Curzon Featured Print

Wedding of Oswald Mosley and Cynthia Curzon

Wedding of Lady Cynthia Curzon and Oswald Mosley in 11 May 1920, as reported in The Sphere magazine. The left picture shows the bride leaving Carlton House Terrace with her father, Lord Curzon, for the Chapel Royal, St. James's. Middle photograph shows Cimmie posing in her wedding gown. According to The Sphere, 'The corsage of the gown is severely simple. The tight-fitting sleeves reach almost to the finger-tips and the drapery of the skirt is held in position by a long trailing sheaf of arum lilies.' The gown was designed by Captain Edward Molyneux. Right hand picture shows the bride and bridegroom after the ceremony outside the residence of Lord Curzon at Carlton House Terrace where 'the brilliant reception was held.' Date: 1920

Captain Molyneux throws party at his Riviera villa

Photograph of the party given by famed dress designer, Captain Edward Molyneux at his French Riviera home, the Villa Capponcina at Cap d'Ail. Thrown to inaugurate his new swimming pool, the dress code stipulated guests must wear beach outfits. There were arc lights, fireworks and an American orchestra. The guests shown here clearly having a rather good time are, from left to right, the Duc de Verdura, M. & Madame d'Estainville, Lord Donegall, Cecil Beaton, the Comtesse de Vallambroso, Captain Edward Molyneux and the Hon. Katharine Norton. Molyneux enjoyed great success as a designer in France with branches in Paris, Monte Carlo and Cannes. Date: 1931

Fashion by Worth and Molyneux, 1927 Featured Print

Fashion by Worth and Molyneux, 1927

Three evening dresses for 1927. From left, a charming frock from Worth carried out in printed white chiffon wiht pastel-coloured flowers. The yoke of the low-necked top and the upper part of the draped skirt are in plain black chiffon. The strass buckle fashioned in the form of a bow 'should be noticed'. In the middle a dancing frock in black flowered chiffon and worn over a black satin slip. The top blouses slightly and the shaped skirt forms point of irregular lengths. On the right, a very smart evening frock, again by Molyneux, in printed and broche chiffon, having vivid coloured flowers on a black background. The gold thread forms an individual design over the printed one. The skirt of this model is made of two haped panels, disposed in a rounded movement on the hips and meeting at the front. Date: 1927
